Legislative Salaries (2026)
NM Voters First
New Mexico is the only state that does not pay a salary to our legislators, making public service inaccessible to 99% of New Mexicans. After decades of work, we passed a constitutional amendment to allow New Mexico legislators to be paid a salary based on the state’s median household income (currently at $64,000). It will be on the November 2026 ballot for voters to decide.
